Coconut Oil

Coconuts are an excellent source of nutrition and have healthful meat, juice, and oil. The oil is arguably the most nutritious and has many health benefits. Coconut oil is over 90% saturated fat and has antimicrobial, antibacterial, and antifungal properties.

How to Use:

In Cooking...

Coconut oil is stable oil that doesn’t break down easily at high temperatures like other oils do. It doesn’t go rancid easily and has amazing nutritional properties. It is great for cooking eggs; stir fries, grain free baked goods, and practically any other cooking use.

As a skin lotion...

Coconut oil is without question my favorite body lotion. It absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave an oily feeling at all. It makes skin incredibly silky and has wonderful antibacterial/antimicrobial properties.

Peanut Butter! I Love You!

However, despite the name, peanuts are not nuts at all. They come from the legume family (lentils, beans, peas etc.) but they are higher in protein than any other legume or nut,

They contain vitamins and minerals including; copper, calcium, iron, manganese, magnesium, potassium, zinc, and selenium. They are rich in vitamin E, many of the B-complex vitamins and help proper brain function.

Peanut butters are a great non-animal source of protein and nutrients, but are often packed with sugar. Luckily for Clean Eaters, there are many ‘clean’ peanut butters on the market.

Meridian – The cleanest of them all! They don’t use Palm Oil for ethical reasons and have ‘no salt added’ peanut butters available too.

Even though a peanut butter is considered clean, it doesn’t mean we can go and eat the whole jar with a spoon Remember, even too much healthy fat can be not so good for us, or our waistline. Portion control is important, about a Tablespoon (15g) is good.

How to Use:

If you are having whole-wheat toast, forget the butter and spread some clean eating peanut butter on it instead. Top oatcakes, rice cakes or celery with it for a quick clean eating snack or add to a protein smoothie.

Chia Bia!

Despite their small size, chia seeds are packed full of important nutrients. They are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, which help to raise HDL cholesterol (the good cholesterol that helps protect against heart attack and stroke).

Consumption of plant-based foods of all kinds has long been associated with a reduced risk of many adverse health conditions including obesity, diabetes, heart disease and overall mortality. Maintaining a diet high in plant-based foods has also been shown to support a healthy complexion, increased energy, and overall lower weight.

How to Use:

Add fiber and omega 3 fats to your cereal, smoothie, yogurt and healthy bakes.
